Re-hydrating Durban

Re-Hydrating Durban,

Warwick Junction, Durban

Durban currently faces a juxtaposition of two realities; it is caught between the aspirations and imperatives of globalisation, and the crafting of an inclusive city within the global South context. This project mediates between these realities.

Reintroducing water as a public space enhancer would not only provide the marginalised with water and agency, but contribute to identity and public space regeneration and business re-investment in the city centre.

The Future Water Points project would further provide something integral to all cultures: water.

Re-Hydrating Durban was a competition entry for the UIA 2014 Conference which was held in Durban where, together with my team member, I had the opportunity to present at the project.
