Gerdin Business School Expansion

Design-Build RFP response by ZGF Architects

Iowa State University  Gerdin Business School Expansion

Design-Build RFP response by ZGF Architects

The ZGF Architects proposal for ISU Gerdin Business Building Expansion is a four-story building on the southeast side of the existing building. The Expansion includes classroom, office, computer and behaviorial lab, event and mechanical spaces. The design of the Expansion honors, respects and remains consistent with the existing architecture of the original Gerdin building in form, material, scale and character.

The building encourages movement across the site and the original L-Shaped building is connected in a three-sided loop to form a new central heart of the Ivy College of Business—a community “commons” with spaces for student interaction, study and socializing between classes, and for special University-held and community events.

I was part of the competition team and responsible for the interior renderings shown and the design of the Grad Suite at the heart of the project.
