Connected to Port Elizabeth’s CBD, Donkin Village has the potential to develop into an lively hub for small business activity and initiate the process of regeneration of the city’s currently derelict core. Donkin Village, with its fine-grained urban fabric, provides fertile grounds for sensitive revitalization. Considering the vacancy of many of the historic buildings in the area, its location right behind the city center and the recent interest in the arts and small scale businesses, the area has the potential to become a creative heart for the city. 

 

The framework works across various scales (city, district, area & finally street) in order to ensure that the ongoing development of the area is guided by the overall vision. This serves to direct future developments that together will result in a more vibrant future Donkin Village.
