WeWatt is an innovation hub + incubator for sustainable products, with an architecture based on the notion of activation of site and community.
The innovation hub is located at the confluence of the city grids of industrial Greenpoint and the former industrial Williamsburg neighbourhoods, in Brooklyn. The project
suggests the lifting of manufacturing facilities above the ground plane, for a more public and porous ground level. In an area with many large manufacturing sheds, this can bring life
to the street edges and provide much needed public facilities. It also allows the community to be drawn into the manufacturing processes, and to take part in “making” through the building’s public program on the lower levels and publicly accessible workspaces, classrooms and tool library.
